| The Cleveland and Marietta
Railroad ran from Marietta, Ohio to Dover, Ohio with its main shops in
Cambridge, Ohio. It had a mainline connection with the 'Panhandle"
section of the PRR at Newcomerstown, Ohio. The branch was mainly a coal
- hauling line and was very scenic and pastoral. In Later years it was
bought by the Pennslylvania Railroad but it always maintained a fierce
pride to the very end prefering the term " Marietta branch"
over any connection with its owner. The section crew is at " Birds
Run" a small wide spot in the road. Alas, the rail line is gone and
the highway bridge has been replaced but memories live in photographs. |
