The newsletter of the Cambridge Fire Department

A  "Hose line"  is a fire service term for any fire hose used for fire attack. Fire hoses come in various sizes and the larger the fire the more   "Hose lines " you will encounter in the street. Larger fires with many hose lines are dynamic, exciting places to be. There is a lot going on there.  We hope that you find a lot going on here as far as fire department information is concerned.

The banner name that we use for our newsletter was coined in the 1970's by Dave Dugan, a firefighter with the CFD. There was a great amount of comings and goings of local characters at the old fire department headquarters and this was a form of entertainment for the fire fighters. Eventually a log was kept of these meanderings and visits and everyone could keep abreast of the current adventures. The log was finally stopped when it turned slightly malicious.
