| This Mason locomotive is shown at The
Cleveland and Marietta railroad shops in Cambridge, Ohio. The C&M
ran from Marietta, Ohio to Dover, Ohio and connected with the
Pennsylvania Rail Road at
Newcomerstown, Ohio. The PRR later purchased the C&M and ran it as a
branch line under the Lake division. This Mason was most likely
purchased from The Wheeling and Lake Erie railroad and was used as a
mine switcher and a yard goat. It is either W&LE # 16 or 17 as there
were two purchased. They were built in 1882, shop numbers #679 and #680
respectively. They were numbered as C&M 10, (810) and 11. It appears they
never received PRR numbers as they were scrapped before the PRR
purchase. The track in the background is the mainline of the
C&M still in existence today as part of the CSX railroad. |
